With over sixty acres of habiTats, rambling trails, and peaceful lakes, a visit to Airlie Gardens offers a chance to forget the hustle and bustle of the world outside and to appreciate the natural beauty that abounds. The beauty of the gardens is further enhanced by its history. The land was originally owned by Thomas A. Wright in the 1850s, who used it as a plantation. During the Civil War, the plantation was used as a hospital for wounded troops. At the end of the war, it was sold to Patrick Moore, who then gifted the land to his daughter Lila Moore Davis and her husband, William F. Davis.
